Electrician: Diploma

We use electricity for so many modern conveniences; everything from lights to power to air conditioning to refrigeration--it all runs on electricity. Electricity from power generating plants are brought to our homes, offices, schools, and places of business. These power plants deliver power through electrical systems which are installed, connected, tested, and maintained by electricians. At CHI Institute, you will develop the technical skills, knowledge, and work habits which you will need to begin a successful career as a qualified electrician.

A Hands-On Curriculum

This training course will provide you with a summary of the basic foundations and fundamentals of electricity. It also covers the National Electrical Code compliance and specialized training in network cabling (a bonus which will aid in certification). There are specific electrician courses that will focus on a variety of areas.

The following areas of focus are:

  • Adding electrical capacity in order to meet the growth requirements of a building
  • Replacement of old systems; how to conduct periodic maintenance and repairs of a variety of systems and components
  • Fiber optic and copper cabling
  • layout, motors, and controls for residential, commercial, and industrial wiring
  • multiphase power and service mains

Preparing for a Successful Career

Electricians usually specialize in construction and/or maintenance work in preparing for a successful career in this field. In construction, there is need for people who can install residential, commercial and industrial wiring, as well as maintain and upgrade systems. Maintaining and upgrading to existing electrical systems and fixing electrical equipments are what is involved in Maintenance work. Almost two-thirds of employed electricians work in the construction industry, the remainder perform electrical maintenance in other areas or industries or they are self employed.
